When one North Carolina elementary school counselor was reading his book while working out on a stationary bike at his favorite gym, he had a revolutionary idea on how to help students learn lessons more effectively.
Bursting with enthusiasm as he told the principal of Winston-Salem based Ward Elementary, Scott Ertl explained his idea of introducing this simple workout into classrooms. With some convincing, Scott was able to introduce a single stationary bike to the back of a classroom.
With the experiment set up and ready for testing, Scott watched as students frequented the bike during their reading times.
